Name: Laria
Location: Sector G
Overview: The Kingdom of Laria is more a collection of countries on their home planet which are following the lead of a single country. Laria itself has taken the head in leading it's planet out of it's system and into an empire due to several reasons. Roughly a third of the planet has been allied with them for many years. More recently, when the planet was invaded and occupied by an unknown rogue empire, it was the Larians who led the planet in overthrowing the aliens. After the battles they had taken the bulk of the ships left by the aliens as spoils and through this expanded their influence into space. It was the Larians who spearheaded the construction of the spacestation and docks at Malgan and the inital settlement on the planet of Thrandor. Explorers from Laria were also the first to make contact with the Watchers and thus the greater galaxia. It was not surprisingly a Larian who was first selected to act as ambassador from the planet to Scanlon Station.
Population: Human
Government: Monarchy. Laria actually consists of over a dozen separate countries, the Kingdom of Laria being one of the largest, and currently the most influential on the planet.
Planets/systems: The area of space controlled by the Kingdom of Laria consists of 5 space systems with a few settled planets and a couple of sizable space stations.
1. Larian system (4 planets 1 inhabited (Kolban))
2. Twinsun station (2 planets 1 inhabited space station)
3. Shandor (7 planets 1 minor colony(Thrandor))
4. Malgan (3 planets construction of docks/space station)
5. Purgatory (2 planets 1 inhabited prison planet(Limbo))
Economy: The economy in Laria is very backwards compared to many of the other empires within the galactic stage. Barter is common with the lower classes, and minted coins are used by much of the population, though the middle and merchant classes are seeking a more standardized currency to match the future trading partners from other empires.
Military: The Larian military is a questionable thing. They have a sizable fleet available for defense of the immediate area around their territory, however, much of their fleet consists of merchant vessels and military vessels which had previously been converted to cargo or passenger duty. The Larians are currently converting these ships for military use as quickly as they can, presenting an unfortunate target until they can complete this.
Resources: Many raw resources available on several of the planets in their claimed systems, especially some rarer mineral deposits they are not currently exploiting.
Chronic problems: Laria is a kingdom of individuals, and as such many of it's problems are internal. Laria itself is the most influential kingdom on the planet, but they do have a rival from the southern continent which is attempting to sway the lesser countries to it's views on how to interact with the greater galaxy, and those views are not in line with the watchers wishes, and more in line with those of a rogue empire.
